# Feed automations

A feed automation posts every new main-page post from one X account.

## What fires a feed automation

The bot checks the account for new main-page posts. Replies and reposts are not announced.

## Setup

#### Setup

1. Open Dashboard → Beta → Automations with the bot selected.
2. Click **Add** and pick **Posts from Feed** in the **Which automation?** picker.
3. Enter the X handle. The dashboard looks it up and shows the account's name and avatar, or says the handle is invalid, not found on X, or private.
4. Pick the destination group from **Posts in group…** — only groups already authorized for the bot are listed.
5. Optional: write the message, upload an image or turn on **Tweet image** (a screenshot of the post), set the link label and position, add buttons.
6. Click **Create**.
7. Optional, from the saved automation's card: open the Topics icon to route its messages into a forum topic, or the Recap icon to add a scheduled recap.

From Telegram: `/menu` → **Automations Menu** → **Add a new automation** → **New posts tracker**, send the username, then answer **Post in this group?** / **Post in this DM?** or pick a group. It is created at once with the default message. The saved automation appears under **Manage Automations** in Telegram and on the dashboard card, where the message is edited.

## Settings

| Setting | Accepts | Default |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Handle | X handle: 1–15 letters, digits or underscores | Required |
| Destination group | One of the bot's authorized groups | Required |
| Message | Text | Empty — uses the default message (see Output) |
| Media | Your own image (jpg, png, webp, 5MB from the dashboard; image, GIF or video up to 20MB sent to the bot in Telegram), or **Tweet image** — a screenshot of the post | Empty — uses the post's own photo when it has one |
| Link label | Text; empty shows the bare post URL | `View post on X` |
| Link position | Top or bottom | Bottom |
| Show quoted post | On or off | On |
| Buttons | Up to 12; label up to 64 characters; URL must start with `http(s)://` | None |
| Button layout | Stacked or inline | Stacked |
| Recap | Scheduled summary of the automation's posts — set from the saved card | Off |
| Topics | Route messages into a forum topic — set from the saved card | General |

**Media modes.** Three ways to illustrate the alert: the post's own photo (default, only when the post has one), your own media on every post, or **Tweet image** — a rendered screenshot of the post, the same picture the following tracker's post cards use. Tweet image is the **Tweet image** pill on the dashboard editor, or **Manage media → Use tweet image** in Telegram. When the screenshot can't be made the alert falls back to your own media, then the post's photo, then plain text.

**From Telegram.** Under **Manage Automations**, tap the tracker: **Manage media** offers **Use tweet image**, **Use custom media** (send the image, GIF or video; it is posted with every new post) and, once one is set, **Use the post's own photo**. **Edit emoji** asks for an emoji — a premium emoji works — and puts it in front of the message in place of the 🐦, leaving the rest of the message as it is. Both edits show up on the dashboard card at once.

## Output

The message has up to three parts: the link line (top or bottom), your message text (or the default below), and — unless Show quoted post is off — the post's own text as a quote.

#### Default message (message left empty)

| Input | Output |
| --- | --- |
| Message | `🐦 **@handle just posted**` |

*@handle is the account's username, linked to its X profile.*

*Placeholders you can type into the message*

| Placeholder | Becomes |
| --- | --- |
| `{account}` | The poster's @username, linked to their X profile |
| `{handle}` | The poster's @username as plain text |
