# The whitelist

# The whitelist

Only whitelisted accounts trigger the agent. Mentions from anyone else are filtered out at X. An empty whitelist means no replies.

## What the whitelist does

Only whitelisted accounts trigger a reply. Mentions from anyone else are filtered out at X: no reply and no X cost.

An empty whitelist means the agent replies to no one. Every agent starts empty and does not connect to X until a handle is saved. The tab shows `No users whitelisted. Your bot won't respond to anyone until you add at least one handle.`

## Adding handles

1. Set the **Telegram / Twitter** switch to **Twitter** and pick the agent under **Currently managing:**.
2. Open the **Whitelist** tab.
3. Click **Add Users**. On a screen 480 px wide or narrower the button reads **Add**.
4. In **Add users to whitelist**, paste the handles. Put one per line, or separate them with spaces or commas.
5. Check the preview. It shows `N new`, `N already on list`, `N rejected:` and `After save: N / 200 whitelisted`.
6. Click **Add N user(s)**.

Rejected handles are left out and not saved. The button is disabled when nothing is new or the list would pass 200. **Add Users** is disabled at 200, with the tooltip `Max 200 reached`.

## Handle format

| Setting | Accepts | Default |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Handle | An X handle, not a numeric ID: letters, digits and underscore, 1 to 15 characters. A leading @ is optional and case is ignored. | Required |
| Separators | Line breaks, spaces or commas | None |
| Duplicates | Removed | None |
| List | Up to 200 handles | Empty |

## Removing handles

Each row shows the handle, linked to its X profile, and a trash icon. Click the trash icon to remove the handle. There is no confirmation. A spinner shows while the change saves.

> **Warning**
>
> Removing every handle stops all replies.

Every save replaces the whole list. If two sessions edit the list at once, the last save wins.

## Saving

While saving, the banner shows `Adding users…` or `Removing user…`. It then shows one of two results and clears after 3 seconds.

| Banner | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| `Saved + live` | The running agent has the new list |
| `Saved (bot will pick up next reload)` | The list is saved. The agent applies it at its next reload, which saving the whitelist again triggers |

The first save that contains a handle starts the agent's connection to X.

## Limits

| Limit | Value | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Handles saved | 200 | The preview shows `After save: N / 200 whitelisted` |
| Handle length | 1 to 15 characters | Longer handles are rejected |
