# What an X agent is

An X agent runs on an X account you own and replies to mentions with a generated image. It never posts on its own.

## What an X agent does

The agent watches its X account for mentions. It replies only when the author is on its whitelist and the post contains the agent's @handle together with a character trigger word.

| Setting | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Watches | Mentions of the agent's @handle on the X account you own |
| Replies to | Accounts on the whitelist only |
| Posts | One generated image per reply, with no text |
| Starts with | An empty whitelist, so it replies to no one until you add handles |
| Does not | Post on its own, or read direct messages |

## What you need

| Setting | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Plan | Heavy+ ($499/mo). One purchase covers one X agent. |
| X account | One you own. Its @handle is the agent's @handle. |
| X developer app | An app with four keys, entered when you deploy |

- [Deploying an X agent](/x-agents/xagent-deploy)

## What you get

Heavy+ includes the X agent and a matching Telegram bot on the same character. Characters are shared: the agent uses the characters of its matching Telegram bot, edited in the **Meme Bot** tab.

The character name you choose at purchase is the trigger word on Telegram and on X.

## Where you manage it

You manage the agent in the dashboard with the **Telegram / Twitter** switch set to **Twitter**. The agent has no Telegram commands.

> **X Automations is separate**
>
> X Automations is a different feature. It posts X feeds and trackers into Telegram chats and uses no X API keys.
